Grown Up Drama Club
This weekly class series combines improv, personal storytelling, and drama games that will help you flex your creative muscles, build confidence and public speaking skills, and tap into your silly side.
If you’re looking for a weekly creative ritual that will help you fight the Seattle Freeze, this class is for you!
WHEN: Thursday evenings starting Jan. 29, 2026 OR Tuesday evenings starting Feb. 10, 2026
WHERE: Room 104 at University Heights Center.
During these colder, darker months, it’s easy to feel isolated or uninspired. Drama and improv offer a powerful antidote by keeping your mind active, your body moving, and your spirit lifted.
Each class is full of laughter, community building, and a chance to step outside your routine. Classes build skills sequentially from week to week: you’ll learn how to create memorable characters, how to put the concept of “yes, and” into practice onstage and in your daily life, and how to collaborate in the moment to create joyful scenes out of thin air. If you're looking for a weekly ritual where you get to play, create, and collaborate with others, Grown Up Drama Club is for you.
We'll cover topics such as devising, scene work, character building, improvisation, stage presence, and physical theatre. This class is inclusive of all experience levels: whether you’re a total beginner or have done lots of theatre before, Grown Up Drama Club will have something for you.
What people are saying
“The workshop leaders, Saya and Abbie, structure the evening so that everybody can share about themselves and also feel safe. The stakes are low and the opportunities to meet people and make friends are great. It’s a low-risk opportunity to be your real self. I recommend it highly. It was delightful.”
— Bob W.
“I don’t think of myself as a creative person, but I felt pretty dang creative in this class! It was really fun and I felt like I learned a lot that I’ll be able to use in my life as well.”
— Melissa C.
